With your child’s focus on their schoolwork, classes, and extracurricular activities during high school, they may have a hard time keeping their supplies organized. Not only that, but their study area at home may be causing them distractions and they may be losing some of their important notes. It is important to help them come up with new ways to stay organized at home, at school, and in their backpack. Here are some school organization tips to help:
- Organizing the backpack: You might have done it when you were younger, take your school work as soon as you were done with class and just shove it in the backpack without a second thought. This leaves it susceptible to ripping or becoming lost when you move your textbooks or folders. Make sure your child puts the papers in a specific area so they remember it later.
- Organizing the study area: Make sure your child’s study area is at a place where they are not distracted by television or other people around. The desk should also be clean with locations for the work from each class so all of their work is together. Perhaps use a corkboard or other item so he or she can identify dates when assignments are due.
- Organizing the notes: When you have multiple classes, it can be difficult to make sure your notes and assignments for each class are organized together. Use an organized school binder or find another efficient way to record your school work by subject, topic, and/or date so you are not losing vital information. Rather than flipping through your notebook, you will have an easier way of keeping everything in its place.
