About:Bronwyn MacDonald is a passionate math enthusiast. Closely tied to her enjoyment of math as a subject, Bronwyn is also a dedicated teacher. With 15 years of experience in math education, Bronwyn has honed her skills as a patient, respectful, engaging educator. Bronwyn’s experience as a classroom teacher and Numeracy Instructional Coach, has developed her strong sense of the importance of fostering a Growth Mindset and building mathematical confidence, while enjoying the beauty and fun of math learning. She believes in the power of hands-on learning and real life application. Bronwyn values diversity and is committed to working with all students, whether they thrive and struggle within our education system. In her free time, Bronwyn loves to read, play board games, and experience the outdoors. However, Bronwyn is a math geek through and through.
As a Math Specialist, Bronwyn has supported classrooms from junior kindergarten to grade 12. Working in a concurrent education program, she earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Trent University and Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University simultaneously. Bronwyn is an OCT qualified Intermediate/Senior teacher, but has three years of experience coaching teachers in the Primary and Junior division to improve their math instruction. Teaching in Toronto and rural Ontario, as well as completing the Special Education AQ courses, has given her an astute perspective about the varied needs of individual students and the importance of supporting each student with their own challenges and uniqueness in mind.
