Celia holds a BA from Concordia in Sociology and a Bachelors of Education from the University of Ottawa. She is also certified in Early Childhood Education.
Celia currently teaches students with special needs at Summit School (K-5) where she implemented a life skills program. As a teacher, she has redirected problematic behaviour using the positive reinforcement method and taught Levelled Reading Programs for students with reading comprehension issues. She has also worked as an after-school program volunteer at Merton School and at Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish.
Celia has trained in non-violent crisis intervention and holds her First Aid and CPR certifications.
She uses direct instruction followed by hands-on learning; she also believes in versatility and the ability for the teacher to adapt each lesson to the students’ particular needs. Celia relates difficult concepts to the real world, thereby making them accessible and less intimidating.
Celia is fully bilingual in both English and French.
