Charlene received her Early Childhood Education diploma from Sheridan College in 2012. With her ongoing passion for teaching she continued her education at York University where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts specializing in Children's Studies. She currently attends Niagara University where she is working towards her Bachelor of Education specializing in primary/junior.
Charlene previously worked as a Montessori teacher for 3 years. During this time she was responsible for leading an after school program which extended the hours of the curriculum and provided a leadership opportunity. She was also able to work one on one with students to complete teacher assigned homework.
Charlene's passion for teaching brought her to Africa, where she was given a rare opportunity to teach within a school for 5 weeks. During this time she focused on working with students in grades 4-8. Charlene is responsible for beginning the homework initiative. This initiative was started when she noticed that homework was not being completed and many students were falling behind. The homework initiative gives students responsibility and ownership.
When Charlene is not working she is at home spending time with her 2 dogs (Cancu and Rocko) or she is re-watching her favourite Disney movies.
