Primary/Junior Special Education Tutor
Christina Tsantsalis is passionate and driven to enhance the lives of children and youth within the educational and social service system. She completed her Bachelor of Honours in Child and Youth Care at Ryerson University where she gained experience working with at risk youth. She had the opportunity to complete placements within North York General Hospital, The York Centre Mental Health Day Program and Roy. H . Crosby Public School. She aspired to further her education at Queen's University where she completed a Bachelors of Education in the Primary/Junior Division. She also completed her Special Education Part 1 additional qualification and intends on specializing in Special Education.
Her goal as a teacher and CYW is to support and teach all students in a holistic way by focusing on their strengths, and providing them with a therapeutic relationship that promotes trust, motivation and personal achievements. She loves to create an energetic and inclusive environment and enjoys creating engaging lessons that are hands on!
Following her B.Ed., Christina privately tutored students in her Markham and worked as an Educational Assistant within York Region District School Board. Her extensive background educating students with IEPs and working ADH classrooms has expanded her knowledge of working with a diverse group of learners. Her knowledge of IBI Therapy will be seen as an asset when teaching students with Autism, as she has gained exceptional behavioural management techniques that focus on positive reinforcement. Christina was also an educator for Recycle Your Electronics, a government mandated program that took place in over 150 schools. The program focused on E-Waste and the environmental impacts it has on our planet! She had the opportunity to strengthen her teaching and communication skills by teaching up to 100 students per presentation!
Christina is passionate about travelling and yoga! She has travelled around Europe and South East Asia to explore and learn about the many different cultures! During her travels she found her love for yoga and will be completing her 200-hour Yoga Training Certification.
