Primary/Junior Special Education Tutor
About:Courtney is a graduate of the Masters of Child Study & Education program from OISE at the University of Toronto. She is certified to teach Primary/Junior grades ranging from K-6. She also holds a double qualification in special education, completing both Part 1 and Part 2. She is very passionate about special education and believes that all students can be successful with the right supports. At OISE, Courtney was the President of the Council for Exceptional Children, where she learned more about different exceptionalities and how to best support all students.
Courtney has had a number of different teaching experiences and is currently working at an all boys’ private school teaching the IB curriculum. Courtney loves working with students one-on-one to meet their individual learning needs and determine the learning/teaching style that works best for that student. Courtney knows that every child is different and that it is her job to individualize learning goals to ensure student success and boost his or her confidence. Courtney uses an inquiry-based approach, where all lessons are active and hands-on to ensure students are engaged in the learning process. In her free time, Courtney plays softball, coaches basketball and loves to read.
