Dakota graduated with a Master of Teacher Degree from the University of
Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She wrote her
thesis on teaching mathematics using the arts. Prior to completing her
Bachelor of Education and Masters Degree, she received her Bachelor of
Arts Honours degree from Queen's University. As she was completing
her degree, Dakota worked with a variety of volunteer organizations to
provide additional academic support to students. Additionally, she taught
summer school through the York Region District School Board. While completing
her Bachelor of Education, Dakota taught in a variety of settings including
independent and public school systems. These experiences taught her the
importance of individualized and hands-on education for all students and
prompted her to complete her Special Education Additional Qualification.
Dakota is a trained SSAT coach, and she enjoys prepping students for this
test taking process. Dakota began her teaching career as a Lead Teacher
at a Private Special Education school and has continued her career as
a teacher for the York Region District School Board.
