Senior English and Social Science Teacher
About:Born and raised in Sydney Nova Scotia, Deanna moved to Toronto at the age of 21 to become a ‘famous’ singer. She found her way back to books at the University of Toronto, and began writing about music. She has been published across Canada, including the Globe and Mail, Ryerson Free Press, and the Rock and Roll Report.
She is completing her masters of education at York University, with her B.Ed. from York, and her undergrad at U of T. Her qualifications are English and Social Sciences, intermediate senior. Deanna was a substitute teacher at the English Montreal school board where she taught prekindergarten to grade 12. After learning how much she loved teaching younger children, she received her primary qualifications.
Deanna has tutored, mentored, and taught all ages, including adults at college. Recently she was a teaching assistant for first year undergraduates at York University. Deanna guided and observed group and class discussions, and gave critical feedback when marking assignments. Tremendous growth in work was observed by Deanna and expressed by students.
Deanna is a makeup artist that works with cosmetic brands, teaching clients skin care and make-up applications. She creates customized palettes for weddings and special events. Her motto is “all of you, a touch of me”.
