Emily completed a Bachelor’s of Education (Intermediate/Senior, Science and Biology) from Lakehead University with additional qualifications in Primary, Junior and Special Education. Previously, she completed a Bachelor’s of Science (Honors) in Environmental Resource Sciences from Trent University. She worked as an Environmental Scientist with an Environmental Engineering Consulting Firm before making the move into teaching. Emily has a diverse teaching background with experience teaching all grade levels, including specialized education programs for students with ASD and a variety of learning challenges. She also works as an Outdoor Educator at a wildlife centre. Emily’s passions in life include her daughter, providing children with an education that will allow them to succeed in life, and being an advocate in environmental and animal welfare. Growing up surrounded by nature fostered a deep connection with the natural world that she enjoys sharing with others. Emily has a wonderful ability to individualized instruction that is engaging and developmentally appropriate so each student can reach their greatest potential. She is flexible and cares about the well-being of all her students. It gives her great joy to help children to grow and succeed in their own lives. She believes students are most successful when they have been taught how to learn, are motivated to learn and are confident in themselves as learners.
