Essa received her undergraduate degree with a major in English and minors
in Psychology and Linguistics. She then graduated from the Ontario Institute
for Studies in Education (OISE) with a Master of Teaching degree along
with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) qualification to teach at the
junior/intermediate level. Essa has been a classroom volunteer and a tutor
for many years, including her volunteer work at St. Leonard's Society
of Metropolitan Toronto as a grade 5-12 tutor. She specializes in tutoring
literacy, math, and science, as well as preparing students for TOEFL.
Additionally, Essa is a trained SSAT coach and she enjoys delivering entrance
test prep instruction to students in grade 6 and grade 8. Essa has also
enjoyed teaching overseas at Canadian international schools and has worked
with children of all ages. She is passionate about learning and teaching
with patience, kindness, and flexibility. Some of her interests include
movies, healthy cooking, and music; she enjoys singing and playing the
piano and guitar in her free time.
