About:Hi, my name is Gabriella!
I graduated Teacher’s College from Queen’s University, where I also completed my undergrad in Health Studies. My passion for working with children and supporting their growth was the driving force behind my decision to pursue a Bachelor of Education degree. My years of experience in leadership roles at summer camps, as well as, teaching placements in schools, has taught me how important it is for children to have strong and positive role models in their lives - a role I strive to embody. My teaching philosophy is based upon three essential principles - inclusion, intellectual curiosity, and dedication. I always aim to foster an inclusive, innovative and engaging environment for my learners.
I have been recognized in the past for the enthusiasm and creativity that I bring to every lesson. One time I even dressed up as a Grandmother to introduce a new math unit to a class. Students were instantly intrigued and eager to help “Granny Smith” solve her math problems so much that learning math became a highlight of the week! I am always looking for new and innovative ways for my learners to inquire and explore with their learning. To do this, I always make sure that I know what the learner wants, needs and is interested in. This helps me create lessons that are relatable, memorable and of course, enjoyable!
Along with teaching, I am extremely passionate about dogs, sports and Disney. I have a beagle named Coco and she is 10 years old. She likes howl a lot, but I never find it loud. I spend my summers working with kids and sports, and I absolutely love when I am challenged to a game. I like to call myself Disney’s #1 fan. I know all the words to every song and absolutely love “Beauty and the Beast.”
I look forward to working with you and thank you for taking the time to read my bio!
