About:Jashan received her Bachelor of Education concurrently with her Honours of Bachelor of Science, from the Concurrent Teacher Education Program at the University of Toronto. This five year program allowed Jashan many opportunities to not only strengthen theoretical knowledge in her majors of math and biology, but helped to mould a solid foundation for her philosophy of teaching. Jashan firmly believes that power of education is one of the best gifts any child can receive. As such, she strives to illustrate to her students, that learning is not a chore, rather a lifestyle. Jashan has been recognized by colleagues as creative and passionate, as someone who extends her teaching beyond the four walls of a classroom.
Jashan has modelled a passion for teaching countless years. As a high school student, she was involved with the after school and during lunch subject specific help rooms. She has also served as co-chair for running school events and volunteered as a teaching assistant on Saturdays, for a languages program. In 2011, Jashan was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor Generals Award for her community service hours. All throughout her post-secondary career, Jashan went above the expectations of their program, usually spending extra time, than needed, at her placements. She was awarded the Faculty Choice Award in 2013-2014 for her passion for teaching. During her final year practicums, alongside teaching, Jashan co-ran the math help room twice a week, took part in rehearsing and performing in the teachers group for the annual Asian Heritage Month show and helped to coach the senior badminton team before and after school. In her spare time, Jashan enjoys cleaning, experimen ting with new cooking recipes and physical activity.
