Jenna graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, where she studied Psychology and Human Biology. She has a Master of Teaching degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and she is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She has qualifications in the Intermediate and Senior levels, and her teachable subjects are Biology and Social Science.
Jenna has tutored students ranging in age from 4-15 years old using Direct Instruction to improve their reading and math skills. She has previously helped students with multiple-digit multiplication and division, column addition and subtraction, fractions and mixed numbers, ratios and proportions, decimals, area and perimeter, etc. While she does not have a Junior level qualification, she is happy to provide tutoring as a general instructor for younger students, including elementary level math up to grade 8 (inclusive).
Jenna has a calm demeanor, and brings warmth and humour into her teaching. She is an excellent listener and adjusts her teaching strategies to meet individual student’s needs. She provides positive encouragement that recognizes the student’s effort and progress.
Jenna loves to learn and is passionate about education. She enjoys relating everyday examples and current news items to course content to help students make connections and engage them in learning about the world around them. She loves to read, watch films (especially musicals), and travel the world with her camera.
