I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Humanities Department at York University. I also hold a specialized Honours B.A. and a Masters degree in Humanities, as well as a certificate in Biblical Studies (Social-Historical analysis). I have six years of experience as an instructor at York University and I have been privately tutoring students of all ages and grades since 2013. In addition, I have published several academic articles and I have assisted in organizing several academic conferences. I can also translate ancient Greek. My dissertation uses the methodology of Contentious Politics to better understand collective action in the Ancient World
As much as I like the research aspects of my academic career, my favorite part is working with students. I want to them be successful and to feel confident in their abilities. In teaching, I try to take a skills-based approach, rather and a knowledge-based one. This means that I focus on my students’ learning, while honing their critical thinking and communication skills. These skills can then be utilized in any subject, as well as in life. I want to train my students to learn how to work through problems and tasks on their own. I also believe that learning should be fun. I try to build a strong bond and add humor to our sessions so that learning becomes enjoyable and engaging.
In my free time, I am an avid sports fan. Growing up, I played elite-level baseball. I also really enjoy football, basketball, golf and tennis. In addition, I am a huge fan of science-fiction, fantasy, drama, comic books and all forms of art. Lastly, my best friend is my bulldog, Muggsy. Although sleeping is his favorite activity, we go hiking together every day. He also really enjoys getting into mischief, so he keeps me on my toes.
