Senior English and History, Intermediate Math Special Education Tutor
Joshua is a graduate of the Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. The Master of Teaching qualifies Joshua to teach at the Intermediate/Secondary level in the subjects of English, History, and Special Education. He obtained his Honour's Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto with a major in English, and minors in history and music history and culture.
Joshua has extensive experience teaching literacy to students, especially from grades 6-12. He has just returned from two years teaching in London, England, where he taught English Language and Literature courses, as well as well as a course designed to help students prepare for England's equivalent of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. He has also taught English in the International Baccalaureate program at Upper Canada College.
For younger students, Joshua focuses lessons on reading, comprehension, and writing skills. He has spent several years both as a teacher, private tutor, and as a volunteer with the Toronto Public Library's Leading to Reading program.
Joshua's greatest strength is his ability to connect with individual students. He has a personable and caring approach that allows him to successfully motivate students through one-on-one connections, positive encouragement, and tailoring sessions to the needs of the individual student.
