About:Josie graduated in 2014 from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Research Psychology and a minor in English. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Education at Tyndale University in the Junior/Intermediate divisions and will graduate in November of 2017. Josie has a wide variety of teaching and instructional experience with youth of all ages as well as adults. Her roles have been as diverse as the ages she has worked with and include titles like Camp Supervisor at a northern Ontario summer camp, Training and Development Executive for a Wilfrid Laurier University service team, and Job Coach for adults with special needs.
Josie believes that in order for students to become life long learners, they must enjoy learning first. When it comes to teaching, Josie is passionate about making education fun and helping each student find joy and success in learning. She is patient and persistent – if one method of instruction doesn’t work, she works to find a new, more effective way to develop the understanding of her learners. Josie is well acquainted with a variety of instructional strategies and incorporates concrete materials and the use of technology when applicable. Josie knows that each student has unique strengths and skill sets and she helps her students realize their own capabilities so that they can independently achieve their learning goals.
