Primary Junior Special Education Tutor
A passionate educator, Kate has been involved in education for many years now. She graduated with an English degree from Queen's University in 2007, and then worked as an early childhood music educator from 2008-2013 with a program called Music Together. She received her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University in 2015 and has been working for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board in Muskoka since then.
Kate has worked in a wide variety of schools and classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8, and she works hard to build relationships with each and every one of her students. She has developed balanced, research-based math, English and French literacy programs that incorporate student choice and co-created success criteria. Through ongoing observation and assessment, she develops differentiated learning experiences to meet specific student needs. She maintains ongoing parent communication and promote learning extensions at home through a variety of avenues.
Kate has taken several Additional Qualification courses including French, Math, and Special Education. These have deepened her professional knowledge and allowed her to add to her toolkit of resources.
As a private tutor since 2014, Kate has developed individualized learning plans with students based on their areas of greatest need and create tailored learning experiences to build on students’ existing knowledge and interests. Kate strives to create an atmosphere where students can take risks, grow, and become better citizens.
In her spare time, Kate can be found reading, biking, spending time at her family cottage, and singing and playing guitar.
Kate is friendly, warm, energetic, responsible, and a lifelong learner. She looks forward to the opportunity to work with your family.
