Junior Intermediate Math and English Tutor and SSAT coach
Katie completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at Acadia University in Nova Scotia in 2008, and also holds a Master of Arts from the University of Ottawa. Her latest education includes a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Currently, Katie is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers with a focus on the Junior Intermediate Learner (grades 4-10).
Katie’s enthusiasm for teaching is demonstrated through her tutoring experiences that have ranged from grade 6-9. She specializes in middle and upper level SSAT preparation. Her teaching experience in the classroom has included learners from grades 1-8 and has covered a variety of subjects including Language, Math, Science and Technology, Health and Physical Education as well as Computers. Authentic and engaging tutoring sessions have been made possible by Katie’s commitment to developing a strong rapport with her students. Through this rapport, Katie is able to instil confidence and self regulation in her students that encourages them to take risks and achieve their goals. Katie is able to inspire success in all learners by individualizing her instruction for each students’ learning styles. Katie has experience with grade 6-8 students teaching English, Science, Math, Drama and Social Studies and is a trained SSAT coach.
