About:Kirsten attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies. After completing her four year degree, Kirsten began to fulfill her inner travel bug and backpacked South East Asia. When she wasn't trekking through the Hill Tribes, she was volunteering in a school for the Deaf in Vietnam.
Kirsten attended Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia to complete her Bachelor of Education. While in Brisbane, she was an Educational Assistant at a primary school and worked at a school for students with Autism. Kirsten is now a Primary/Junior Special Education teacher for the York Region District School Board. She is qualified to teach Primary, Junior, and Intermediate divisions with a Specialist in Health and Physical Education. Kirsten also has additional qualifications in Primary Math and Special Education. Kirsten is also trained in the remedial program of Direct Instruction Reading Mastery and The Wilson Reading Program, and she enjoys helping struggling readers and writers achieve success.
Kirsten has always had a passion for teaching and was able to pursue this dream while growing up as a competitive dancer. Not only did she attend Unionville High School's Arts York Dance Program, but she also competed on a local dance team for 10 years. Throughout her young adult life she has choreographed and lead summer dance camps.
Kirsten believes being a teacher in a dance studio and a teacher in a classroom are very much the same thing and have helped shape her into the teacher she has always wanted to be. She believes every student is different and learns in their own way. Kirsten builds a positive relationship with each of her students, so she can master what they need to be successful.
