About:Laura graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts in 2014. She completed her teaching internship in the Beijing Foreign Languages School in China, where she taught in a Grade 2 classroom for four months. In 2015, she graduated from OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Education in the Primary/Junior grade levels. As Laura was in CTEP (Concurrent Education Teacher Program), she gained valuable classroom placement experience all throughout her five years of her undergraduate studies. She then was given the opportunity to teach in a Grade 1 classroom at Branksome Hall Asia in South Korea for a year. This was a no brainer as Laura absolutely loves traveling, immersing herself in a new country and new culture, and most importantly, teaching kids! Through these experiences, in Toronto and abroad, Laura has developed a deep passion for working with young children and guiding th em to reach their full potential.
Alongside having years of tutoring experience, Laura also teaches through an online English education platform called VIPKID Education, where she fosters an engaging, personalized one-on-one interactive classroom experience for Chinese students (who are IN China!) ages 4 to 12. She has taught over 580 students through this platform. Additionally, Laura has an AQ (additional qualification) in Teaching English Language Learners. Laura truly believes that engaging students using their curiosity and interests is crucial in helping them gain the confidence they require to succeed. In her spare time, Laura enjoys long distance running and rock climbing, as well as spending time with her friends and family.
