Intermediate Math and Science Tutor
Lisa is an Ontario Certified teacher with 11 years of experience teaching
and tutoring with the Ontario Curriculum and the MYP IB international
program. She specializes in mathematics and science from Grades 5 through
10. Lisa received her teaching qualifications at the Junior/Intermediate
level, and has upgraded her qualifications to include Intermediate and
Senior General Science and Special Education. Lisa has had varied teaching
experience here in Ontario, Canada, as well as abroad in Moscow, Russia
and In Milan, Italy.
She holds an Honours BHK from the University of Windsor in Movement Science and holds a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. She is currently completing a Master’s Program in International Education at Buffalo State University.
Lisa has been teaching and tutoring students with a variety of needs and
is able to adapt a program for any child/student. In mathematics, she
is able to break down mathematical concepts and skills into easy to understand
steps that will allow the student to master the task at hand. Her MYP
experience stresses the importance of problem solving, inquiry skills,
and reflection to help solidify student learning. In science, Lisa is
able to assist students with study strategies and can explain difficult
concepts with a variety of learning tools. Particularly, Lisa is able
to assist students in lab report writing and research skills.
Lisa understands that each child is unique and knows that one-on-one academic support does lead to student success. Lisa develops trusting relationships with her students, makes them feel comfortable and confident with the subject area and encourages them to meet their potential.
