Primary/Junior Special Education Tutor
About:Lisa received her Bachelor of Education degree from Queen's University in 2008 after acquiring her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University in 2007, where she majored in psychology with a developmental specialization. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with qualifications to teach all subjects in the primary and junior divisions. During her journey in education, Lisa became passionate about working with students from around the world and now has additional qualifications as an ESL Specialist. She is also trained in the TRIBES and Rainbows programs.
Lisa has had her own classroom in the York Region District School Board for six years, teaching various grades at three different schools. Prior to that, she served two years as an occasional teacher, both in York Region and in London, England.
This past year, Lisa was the Kindergarten - Grade Four Lead Teacher at her school. As part of her role, she presented information to the staff on topics such as: comprehensive math programming, inquiry based learning, and making student thinking visible. These are concepts Lisa embeds in her classroom and tutoring practices.
As well as teaching, Lisa enjoys theatre and writing. She has run the drama club at all three of her schools, performs in community theatre shows, and recently finished writing her first short story.
