About:

Louise is a PhD candidate in the top ranked Women’s and Gender Studies Department at Rutgers University. She is currently completing her dissertation research and writing in the area of cross-cultural and immigrant mental health in Toronto. Louise previously graduated with a Masters in Sociology in Education from OISE (the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto. She has experience teaching undergraduate university students in first year and third year classrooms. Louise is knowledgeable in the areas of history, English, and social studies at the high school level and social sciences at the university level. A two-time Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) fellowship award holder, she loves and excels at supporting students through essay and application writing. While holding office hours and mentoring undergraduate students in the past, Louise became aware her skills as a teach er were most effective when coaching students one-on-one. She can help nervous high school graduates adjust to the demands of post-secondary education–from time management to active reading.
