Primary Junior Special Education Teacher
Mary graduated from York University with an Honours B.A. in Sociology and Political Science, and received her Bachelor of Education from Niagara University in Ontario. She is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers to teach both primary and junior grades, and has additional qualifications in Special Education and English as a Second Language. She has many years experience teaching diverse learners in a variety of settings, from kindergarten to grade 6. She strives to ensure that her students achieve independent learning skills, while engaging them in effective learning strategies. In addition, Mary is trained in the remedial reading programs of Direct Instruction Reading Mastery and The Wilson Reading Program. She has been working with special needs students for many years and strives to help them reach their academic goals and build their self-confidence through positive reinforcement. She is currently working towards becoming an ABA (Applied Behavioral Therapist).
