Melissa has an educational background of Early Childhood Education from
Seneca College, a Sociology degree from York University, and a Bachelor
of Education degree from Brock University. She is also an Ontario Certified
Teacher certified to teach both Primary and Junior Divisions. Melissa
is fluent in Italian, as she grew up in an Italian speaking family and
has an interest in the Italian heritage, language, and culture. Melissa
has volunteer experience working at a Youth Learning Centre for at risk
youth who require extra assistance in their schooling and social skills.
She also has extensive experience working with elementary school students
on developing their literacy skills. Melissa believes it is important
that students develop these skills early on as literacy is an essential
part of their lifelong learning.
