Junior and Intermediate Teacher
Neslihan completed her undergraduate degree at York University, where she received her Combined Honours BA in English and History. Last summer, she completed the EXPLORE French Immersion Program at Cégep de Jonquière. Currently, Neslihan is a teacher-candidate finishing her final year of her Masters Degree at the University of Toronto, and is conducting research on the supports and barriers that students with dyslexia face in secondary schools.
Neslihan has spent over five years tutoring students from all grades and disciplines. She has developed an educational philosophy that emphasizes mindfulness to the needs and strengths of each learner to help them succeed. Neslihan has experience working with students with IEPs and other learning profiles, which has helped her develop creative strategies to overcome the obstacles many students face in their learning.
Outside of teaching, Neslihan has also taken part in various community based initiatives. She has volunteered at the North American Indigenous Games in 2017, supporting the TRC’s Call to Action. Additionally, she has attended various conferences to better educate students about Environmental Education. In her free time, Neslihan enjoys painting, cooking, and hiking.
