Rachel recently graduated with a Master of Teaching from the Ontario Institute
for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. Her research
focused on place-based and environmental education which uses students'
surrounding community as a starting point to teach curriculum. Prior to
attending graduate school in Toronto, Rachel worked as a preschool teacher
in Vermont for five summers as she completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours)
in psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Her degree
in psychology gave her a true understanding and appreciation for child
development. Rachel also has an additional qualification (AQ) in Special
Education, along with a practicum placement experience in a primary special
education classroom, which has helped shape her view on individualized
planning for each student. She has also had placements in grade 2/3, kindergarten,
and grade 6. She believes that by getting to know s tudents and their
interests, learning can be enjoyable for all students.
