Intermediate and Senior English and History Teacher
About:Sam is an OCT certified teacher, having graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Bachelor of Education from York's concurrent Ed program. York's program enabled Sam to tutor elementary students one-on-one with the Toronto Public Library as well as student teach middle and high school students in the Toronto District School Board.
After graduating from York, Sam accepted a job with a secondary school in England, teaching in Watford, north-west of London. There Sam taught English to students from grades 6 through 8 for two years. He would also partake in after school revision, assist students one-on-one during break and lunchtime and co-managed an after school boxing club alongside a professional trainer.
Having recently returned to Canada, Sam taught English evening classes to international students at the Grade 11 level with a Toronto-based private school.
He currently works for a private school in Thornhill, where he teaches Senior English, History and ESL courses to students who are new to Canada and looking for an international education as well as a new life overseas.
In his spare time, Sam enjoys literature, comic books and films. He loves the works of George Orwell, Maya Angelou, Raymond Carver, William Blake, Gwendolyn Brooks and Warren Ellis to name a few. Sam also has a passion for martial arts. He has trained for several years in traditional boxing and Escrima. While living in England, Sam won multiple medals in stick-fighting tournaments at the British National level.
Despite the pain it brings him, he is also a die-hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
