Senior English and Biology Tutor
Sarah Schroer is certified to teach by the Ontario College of Teachers. She completed her teacher’s education from Trent University where she specialized in the Intermediate/Senior levels (grades 7 – 12) with English and Biology as her subject concentrations. Since English was always her favourite subject in school, it was a natural choice to major in English Literature during her undergraduate degree. Looking to expand into other subject areas, she opted to do a joint degree in Psychology, ultimately graduating with 4-year B.A. Honours Degree in both subjects.
Science is a subject Sarah has studied outside of her degree as a personal interest, compelling her to complete university courses cell biology, animal biology, anatomy & physiology, genetics, chemistry, and organic chemistry. As a stereotypical right-brained individual, she offers a unique way of teaching science to students that would benefit from a new way for subject matter to be explained to them.
Along with her experiences through her teacher education, she has taught ESL to students in Quebec, computer literacy to elderly patients at a hospital, and the art of ‘glass fusing’ at Camp White Pine.
At present, Sarah works for a worldwide publishing company that produces magazines and journals for the processing industry. Her role as editor-in-chief of a bimonthly engineering magazine involves her putting together a 56-page magazine from A to Z. When she is not working, Sarah keeps busy volunteering in a Dutch language class, playing soccer, and taking care of her chatty Siamese cat (Johnny) and two turtles (Dora and Fred).
