Primary/Junior and Intermediate Math and English Tutor, SSAT Coach
I graduated from the University of Toronto’s prestigious Master of Teaching (MT) program, receiving a Master's Degree and teaching certification through the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). Prior to graduate studies, I taught for more than three years at a language school in Nagoya, Japan. During my time overseas, I developed my activity-centric approach to learning designed to maximize student engagement . Since returning to Canada in 2016, I have brought a variety of original games into my classrooms. In mathematics, I have incorporated numeracy, fraction, and factor-based games that have had my students easily doubling their mathematical production when compared to traditional worksheets. When developing student reading and writing competencies, activities are blended with a collaborative coaching model that instills confidence in learners while guiding them through skill acquisition. In addition, I am a trained SSAT Coach and enjoy prepping students for this test at both the Middle and Upper Levels.
In my free time I am an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for hockey, golf, tennis, and cycling. For those students interested in physical education (P.E.), I offer summer-month outdoor activities that facilitate writing and organizational development through a P.E. medium. I believe meaningful learning is possible when students are engaged, challenged to think critically, and truly enjoy their educational experience.
