Shiren completed her undergraduate degree at York University with an Honors degree in Psychology and Kinesiology. She obtained a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa and is a certified member of the Ontario College of Teachers. Shiren’s teachables are Biology and Math at the Intermediate/Senior levels. She has tutored extensively in both Biology, Chemistry and Math for the past 4 years. In addition to this, she has worked with the York Region district school board as an occasional teacher. Shiren has received additional qualifications in Special Education, ESL, as well as American Sign Language (ASL) in order to better attend to the needs of her students. She has extensive background working with students of all ages with different learning styles and needs.
Shiren’s philosophy of education reflects her multi-dimensional approach to teaching and her beliefs surrounding student-centered learning. As an educator, she sees teaching and learning from different angles which allows her to teach to almost any student, regardless of their learning style. Shiren believes that in order for effective learning to happen, it is important for students to be able to relate to the material. This connection will spark more interest in the student, thus enabling them to succeed in their learning process.
