Primary Junior French Tutor
Sierra grew up speaking French and doing sports; gymnastics, cross country running, horseback riding and martial arts. She is qualified to teach JK to grade 8 with the enthusiasm needed for high energy kidlets. Sierra is a specialist in grade 9-12 Biology, grade 9-12 Drama and grade 9-12 Phys. Ed./Health. Also enjoys teaching French, English, History, Psych/Anthro, Environmental Sciences, Forensic Sciences and Politics. Sierra has a hands on, diverse approach to learning and can guarantee adaptive tutelage that ensures student success.
Sierra has excellent time management, organization and lesson planning skills, is a graduate of UofT and Royal Holloway University of London (each with Distinctive Honours) who currently volunteers as a Educational Facilitator at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). At the ROM Sierra teaches children a large repertoire of constantly up-dating historical and scientific information using a learning style which focuses on helping children use deductive reasoning to gain the answer.
Sierra is a soon to be graduate of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) who has Level A First Aid training, is a Qualified Level 1 Gymnastics and Trampoline Coach and a Martial Artist. Sierra has been a Guest Lecturer at OISE and UofT on subjects of Empathy, Effective Education, Safe Classrooms, Classroom Management and Social Justice.
Sierra has had 4 years of in classroom experience with Gifted, At Risk and ELL students. Also has experience working with students who have anxiety and depression. Sierra has worked closely with Mary Gordon and Roots of Empathy to prevent bullying in students of all ages.
An avid traveler, Sierra takes every opportunity to explore the world; from London to Brazil, Finland to the Netherlands, Germany to Mexico and Paris to Panama. Passion for travel led Sierra to become a Representative of UofT’s International Exchange Centre (IEC) and Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Sierra has prior experience tutoring, helping both native and new-to-Canada students overcome language barriers and build confidence in English, Science, Mathematics and themselves!
Sierra takes Dramatic Arts very seriously, having participated in and won awards for Best Actor and Young Actor in a Mature Role at the Sears Drama Festival. Currently working with Riverlight Talent Agency. Sierra spent two years with the The Sync Afrique Experience, a production company which puts together large scale shows displaying African dance and culture. Was awarded Best Actor and Most Dedicated to the Team respectively.
The only thing Sierra has more passion for than the Arts is effective, compassionate pedagogy.
