Vanessa is a teacher candidate in the Master of Teaching program at OISE,
University of Toronto, specializing in primary and junior. Prior to beginning
her Masters, she attended York University where she received a Bachelor
of Arts with Honours in Psychology and English. She believes that maximizing
student success requires individualizing her instruction to suit the learning
preferences and needs of her students, including tapping into their strengths
and interests in order to make learning an engaging and positive experience.
She has both tutoring and classroom experience, having worked as a tutor
for over five years and in classrooms as a volunteer and student teacher
for the past seven years. She is well-versed in Ontario assessment practices
and curricular expectations across subjects from Kindergarten to Grade
6, and for senior English. When she is not working with students, she
can be found playing tennis, painting and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
